Mary serves as a member of the Finance and Investment Advisory Committee, overseeing The USAA Educational Foundation’s operational resources and long-term health of investments.
She also leads the retirement, health and investment product teams for USAA’s Life Company, which includes annuities, health and investment products and solutions supporting military families to reach their retirement goals.
Before her current position, Mary held the roles of General Manager of Omnichannel of USAA’s Life Company, President for USAA Investment Services Company (ISCO), General Manager for Strategic Relationships, and President for USAA Financial Planning and Advice. She led teams that delivered retirement, life insurance, health insurance, investment, and wealth management solutions to members through licensed financial advisors and wealth managers.
Mary first served members at USAA from 2006 to 2014. During that time, she led approximately 600 Financial Advisors and Member Service Representatives, who provided advice and implemented solutions related to retirement planning, risk management, investment allocation, and financial planning. Following that role, Mary served as Assistant Vice President of USAA’s Market Strategy, and was responsible for analyzing and understanding member needs, industry trends, sales data, and channel performance and delivering strategic and operational go‐to-market strategies.
From 2014 to 2015 Mary led Charles Schwab’s portfolio consulting organization, including the Schwab Private Client offer and the Wealth Strategies Group within Schwab Private Client Investment Advisory, Inc. (SPCIA), as a registered investment advisor. She also led the Portfolio Solutions Group within Charles Schwab & Co, Inc., an affiliate of SPCIA. Mary started her career in the financial advice field as an Investment Representative with Edward Jones Investments from 1998 to 2004.
Mary holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Banking and Finance, from Fayetteville State University (FSU), as well as a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing from North Carolina State University. She is a Certified Wealth Strategist® and Certified Financial Planner®. She is currently enrolled in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Certification program at the Woods College of Advanced Studies at Boston College.
Mary serves on the FSU Board of Visitors, the FSU Broadwell College of Business and Economics Advisory Board, and the Junior Achievement of South Texas (JAST) Board, a nonprofit group dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
Mary is married to Jake, a proud disabled Army veteran. Together they have two beautiful children.
